Cindy and I will be leading a butterfly walk for CAZBA.org.
We will stop at the Ballantine Trail and Log Corral Canyon off of the Beeline Highway (hwy 87) in Maricopa County to look for early season butterflies.
If the weather has been warm the conditions will be good. A few of the specialties we will look for are Sara and Desert Orangetips; Pima Orangetip; Pearly Marble; Brown Elfin; Fulvia Checkerspot; Common Streaky-Skipper; Arizona Powdered Skipper; Erickson's White Skipper, Spring White, Meridian and Funereal Duskywings, and Desert Black Swallowtail. Log Corral Canyon is just a couple of miles beyond the Ballantine Trail Trail head. Meet at the Denny's on Shea Blvd in Fountain Hills at 7:30am. Trip leader Kurt Radamaker.
